Corona virus crisis in America day by day increasing. Recently, a case of a tigress being infected with the Covid-19 has been reported at New York Zoo. It is being told that the virus infection has reached the tigress through a zoo worker.

 

From the news, It is also reported to be the first known case of corona in an animal. According to the latest information, 1200 people have died in 24 hours due to Corona virus in America. While the total number of dead has crossed 9000. However, the case of tigress being infected is from the Bronx Zoo in New York.

 

The US officials says that the infection in the tigress is from an employee of the zoo itself. The tigress sample was tested at the National Veterinary Services Laboratory of the US Department of Agriculture.

Symptoms of Respiratory Disease

However, the Bronx Zoo was closed to the public on March 01, 2020 itself. The Administration reported that tigress Nadia along with other tigers & lions were also tested after they showed symptoms of respiratory disease.

 

Zoo reported that tigress Nadia, her sister Ajul, two Amur tigers and three African lions had symptoms of dry cough. However, all have been expected to recover. While no such signs have been seen so far in zoo and other animals.

 

Decreased appetite, but ..

The zoo said that although these animals have seen some reduction in their appetite, all of them are well under the supervision of veterinarians and have a very good friendly relationship with their caretakers.

 

The zoo states that it is not yet known how the disease will develop, as different species may react differently to the corona virus infection, but we are closely monitoring and fully monitoring Is expected to be healthy. Explain that the USDA has advised Corona-infected patients to keep distance from their pets, including other animals.
