Along with buying cow dung under ‘Godhan Nyay Yojana’, Chhattisgarh government will now buy cow urine. Where cow dung is being bought at Rs 2 per kg, cow urine will be bought at Rs 4 per litre.

After purchasing cow dung, now the Chhattisgarh government has started buying cow urine starting from July 28, 2022 on the day of Hareli Tihar celebrated in Chhattisgarh. In Chhattisgarh, a plan is being made to use cow urine as an eco-friendly manure. Under this, it will be procured from the farmers. Through this, a target has been set to promote organic farming in the state to increase the income of farmers.

 

The state of Chhattisgarh has made cow dung a very important part of rural development and economic model by introducing cow dung procurement. Earlier, cattle ranchers used to use cow dung to make bunds, which could earn only a modest income. But now the cattle farmers and farmers are getting additional income from the government’s Godhan Nyay scheme.

 

The purchase of cow urine will be done under the Godhan Nyay Yojana being run by the Chhattisgarh government, which was started two years ago in the state. This is a major scheme of Chhattisgarh. So far, cow dung is being bought at Rs 2 per kg, while cow urine will be bought at Rs 4 a litre.

 

A study was conducted by Kamdhenu Vishwavidyalaya and Indira Gandhi Agricultural University in Chhattisgarh to assess the increasing need for value addition of cow urine. Based on the report of the study, the Chhattisgarh cabinet has approved the proposal for purchase of cow urine.

 

According to animal census, there are 1.5 crore cattle in Chhattisgarh, out of which 98 lakh are bovine, of which 48 lakh are males and 50 lakh are females. According to these figures, there can be a big revolution in the state with the Godhan Nyay scheme. To take advantage of the scheme, the applicant animal owner should be a permanent resident of Chhattisgarh state and it is mandatory to register him.
