Behind the Scenes from our Recent Works as a FIXER in INDIA
The Rann of Kutch, spread across the western edge of Gujarat, is one of the most surreal filming destinations in India. Famous for its vast white salt desert, vibrant culture, and unique wildlife, this region offers breathtaking backdrops that shift dramatically with the seasons. From wide, endless salt plains to bustling local fairs, the Rann of Kutch has become an international favorite for filmmakers seeking to capture India’s raw beauty and cultural vibrance.
Why Film in the Rann of Kutch
The Rann of Kutch is not just a landscape—it’s a story in itself. The Great Rann of Kutch, with its endless white expanse, transforms into a magical canvas, especially under moonlight, offering an otherworldly atmosphere for films, documentaries, music videos, and commercials. Equally captivating is the Little Rann of Kutch, home to the Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary, where filmmakers can explore rare species, migratory birds, and rustic village life that makes the region rich in character.
Filming here allows international crews to access both natural wonders and cultural treasures. The Rann Utsav, a world-renowned festival, provides vibrant visuals of traditional Gujarati crafts, dances, and music against the backdrop of the salt desert. Villages with intricate mud houses and colorful attire further enrich storytelling with authenticity.
Best Filming Locations in the Rann of Kutch
The Great Rann of Kutch is a filmmaker’s paradise, offering wide panoramic shots of the salt desert, changing hues during sunrise and sunset, and a surreal landscape during the full moon. It’s an ideal location for projects requiring vast, dramatic scenery with a dreamlike quality.
The Little Rann of Kutch, though lesser-known, is equally cinematic. Its dry, cracked terrain and the wildlife-rich Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary create a raw, rugged setting perfect for documentaries and adventure-based stories. Here, one can film not only landscapes but also rare ecological phenomena and traditional salt-pan workers, adding depth to any narrative.
The border areas of Kutch also add an element of intrigue, with fortified posts and striking desert backdrops, though these zones require high-level permissions. Combined, these locations make Kutch a versatile region suitable for feature films, TV productions, commercials, and wildlife documentaries.
How Filming Indo Supports International Film Crews
While the Rann of Kutch offers unmatched cinematic potential, securing the right filming permits can be a complex process. Many areas fall under environmentally sensitive zones, forest reserves, and border security regions. Permissions are required from multiple authorities including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Environment, State Forest Secretary, State Forest Department, Regional Forest Office, Border Security Force, Local Panchayat, Local Police Station, and the District Collectorate.
At Filming Indo, we specialize in handling these procedures seamlessly for foreign filmmakers. Whether it is acquiring a Journalist or Film Visa, arranging permits for eco-sensitive zones, or coordinating with local authorities, our team ensures all paperwork and permissions are managed without delays. We also provide complete on-ground support including location scouting, equipment rental, professional crew, accommodation, and transport logistics.
Our experience of working with international productions has made us a trusted partner for crews filming across India. In Kutch, we act as the crucial bridge between filmmakers and the multiple government agencies involved, ensuring a smooth filming journey.

Among the hidden gems of the country, Jharkhand is increasingly drawing attention as a destination that combines raw natural beauty with authentic cultural narratives. For international filmmakers seeking something fresh, unexplored, and visually powerful, Jharkhand offers just the right blend of natural settings and human stories.
Located in eastern India, Jharkhand is often called the “Land of Forests” with over 29 percent of its area covered in greenery. The state is blessed with waterfalls, hills, wildlife sanctuaries, and tribal culture that is rarely captured in mainstream cinema. Unlike crowded film destinations, Jharkhand offers untouched backdrops that lend authenticity and uniqueness to any documentary, feature film, or commercial project. From its deep forests and rocky terrains to bustling urban centers, the state gives filmmakers a wide canvas to experiment with. We at FILMING INDO works as Film Fixer in Jharkhand to make sure, you come and film your project smoothly.
Best Locations for Filming in Jharkhand
Some of the most attractive filming spots in Jharkhand include Ranchi, the state’s capital, which presents a mix of modern cityscapes and colonial-era architecture. Just outside Ranchi, filmmakers will find the breathtaking Hundru and Dassam Falls, cascading dramatically against lush forests and rugged cliffs—perfect for cinematic sequences. Netarhat Hills, often called the “Queen of Chotanagpur,” offers mesmerizing sunsets and panoramic landscapes that bring natural poetry to the screen.
For filmmakers focusing on wildlife or adventure, Betla National Park in Palamu stands out as one of India’s earliest tiger reserves. Beyond its wildlife, the park is also home to historic forts nestled in the wilderness, creating a rare combination of nature and heritage.
A location of unique global interest is Jharia in Dhanbad, a coalfield region known for its underground fires that have been burning for over a century. This visually dramatic setting is ideal for documentaries on environment, resilience, and survival. On the other hand, for stories centered around faith and tradition, Deoghar with its Baidyanath Dham Temple is a major pilgrimage site that captures the spiritual pulse of India. Together, these locations paint a vibrant picture of Jharkhand, offering endless possibilities for storytelling.
Fixer in Ranchi, Jharkhand – How FILMING INDO Can Help
At FILMING INDO, we specialize in supporting international filmmakers to bring their projects to life in India—smoothly, professionally, and without the stress of bureaucracy. While Jharkhand is full of potential, foreign crews may find it challenging to navigate permits, visas, and local permissions. As an experienced fixer in Ranchi and across Jharkhand, we make the process seamless.
We assist with film permits, government and local clearances, and journalist or film visas. We also handle customs support for importing filming equipment into India. Our team liaises with local authorities, communities, and officials to ensure that shoots progress without disruption.

Behind the Scenes from our Recent Works as a FIXER in INDIA
At FILMING INDO, we often receive inquiries from international filmmakers, journalists, and documentary crews interested in showcasing the lesser-seen aspects of Indian society—including the functioning of its prison system. Indian prisons, particularly those known for their historical relevance or reform-driven approach, have long been a subject of global interest. Whether it’s a powerful story of transformation or the rigid structure of correctional facilities, the visual narrative of prison life in India can be compelling. However, filming inside Indian prisons is a regulated process that requires proper permissions and adherence to official protocols.
Official Guidelines for Filming in Indian Jails
As per the official circular issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and further reinforced by state governments such as the Government of Uttar Pradesh, the process for gaining access to film in prison premises is clearly laid out to ensure the safety, dignity, and privacy of inmates while maintaining the integrity of prison administration.
To shoot a documentary, film, or any media content inside Indian prisons—including notable ones like Agra Central Jail, Tihar Jail, or Yerwada Central Prison—one must begin by submitting a formal request to the Director General (DG) of Prisons of the concerned state. This request must outline the purpose of the film, proposed date of shoot, the names and roles of the crew members, and the filming equipment to be used. In the case of foreign media or film crews, additional clearance in the form of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, is also mandatory.
Legal and Ethical Considerations
The circular highlights that filming inside prison premises is not merely a logistical process—it is also a matter of legal and ethical responsibility. Inmates cannot be interviewed or recorded without their explicit consent, and under no circumstances should their identity be revealed without due approval. The authorities also reserve the right to review the footage before it is released or broadcast.
Reform Stories Worth Telling
In recent years, prisons such as the Agra Central Prison have gained attention for their reformative approach—offering skill development programs, vocational training, and counseling services to help inmates reintegrate into society. Capturing these stories through documentary filmmaking not only sheds light on the evolving nature of correctional facilities in India but also inspires broader conversations on rehabilitation and human rights.
How FILMING INDO Can Help
At FILMING INDO, we assist production houses and international media agencies in navigating this sensitive yet powerful terrain. From drafting permission requests, coordinating with prison officials, facilitating interpreter services, to arranging logistical support for film shooting in Indian prisons, our team ensures a smooth and respectful experience that aligns with all official guidelines.
If you are a filmmaker or journalist planning to film in prison in India, or looking for shooting permission in Indian prisons, get in touch with us at FILMING INDO. We will help you tell your story—ethically, professionally, and powerfully.

Behind the Scenes from our Recent Works as a FIXER in INDIA
A Heartwarming Journey from Pain to Hope | FILMING INDO x The Wizard of Paws
At FILMING INDO, we’re privileged to witness and document powerful stories where compassion meets innovation. One such story unfolded recently in the verdant forests of Karnataka, inside the Bannerghatta National Park, home to India’s famed Bear Rescue Centre, run by the tireless heroes at Wildlife SOS.
Meet Vasi: A Survivor with an Unfinished Story
Vaseekaran – fondly called Vasi – is a sloth bear with a heart full of courage. Years ago, Vasi was rescued from the wild after he fell victim to a brutal snare trap. Despite everything, Vasi carried on. But walking remained a daily struggle.
Enter Derrick Campana – The Wizard of Paws
Derrick Campana, the globally renowned animal prosthetics expert, had one mission in India: to give Vasi the gift of walking freely again. Derrick’s organization, Bionic Pets, has already transformed the lives of over 35,000 animals worldwide.
The Process – Built With Patience & Love
For 3–4 days, Derrick worked closely with Wildlife SOS, crafting a one-of-a-kind prosthetic limb for Vasi. The process involved creating a mold of Vasi’s injured leg, selecting suitable materials, and ensuring it would withstand natural bear behavior.
A Walk Toward Freedom
As Derrick carefully fitted the prosthetic, Vasi took his first steps — cautiously at first, then with growing confidence. It was a miracle. The transformation touched everyone — Vasi’s caretakers, Derrick himself, and our crew at FILMING INDO.
FILMING INDO – Proud Storytellers
As the official line producers and fixers for this incredible documentary in India, FILMING INDO coordinated all ground logistics. For us, this wasn’t just a shoot. It was a story the world needed to see — a story of survival, science, and soul.
Watch the Official Episode atBYU TV
“It’s not just the animals that are changed forever. Their caretakers, and all of us lucky to witness it, are transformed too.” – Derrick Campana
From all of us at FILMING INDO, thank you for joining us in celebrating life in all its forms.
Each time you wander into the forested groves of Kerala during Ayilyam or Nag Panchami, a stillness wraps around you. These aren’t just religious ceremonies; they’re age-old dialogues between people and nature, played out through rituals that have withstood centuries.
A Tradition Rooted in Myth & Ecology
Snake worship in Kerala is deeply embedded in the region’s spiritual and ecological fabric. Many traditional homes still maintain sarpakavus—sacred serpent groves—protected forest patches where nature and divinity blend. These micro-ecosystems help conserve biodiversity, protect rare herbs, and serve as sanctuaries for serpents and spirits alike.
Rituals Etched in Nature
The festival includes mesmerizing rituals:
Kalamezhuthu: Traditional floor art made with natural powders in intricate serpent forms.
Sarpam Thullal: A trance-like dance performed mostly by young girls to appease serpent deities.
Pulluvan Pattu: Folk music sung by the Pulluvar community with stringed instruments dedicated to the Naga gods.
Mannarasala: The Heart of Serpent Worship
The Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple is the crown jewel of Kerala’s snake worship. Tucked into the forests of Haripad, this temple houses more than 30,000 serpent idols. Devotees—especially childless couples—come to perform Uruli Kamazhthal, placing a metal pot upside-down in a sacred grove with hopes of fertility and blessings.
Ayilyam & Nag Panchami: Moments of Devotion
During Ayilyam (October–November), grand processions, oil baths for idols, and offerings of turmeric, milk, and flowers mark the day. Likewise, Nag Panchami (July–August) sees similar devotion pan-India, but Kerala’s version uniquely blends forest preservation and deep ancestral veneration.
Culture and Conservation Intertwined
In many homes and temples, disturbing a sarpakavu is considered inauspicious. This cultural belief, while spiritual, also works as a natural conservation mechanism. It keeps flora and fauna intact and reaffirms human responsibility towards environmental harmony.
Final Thoughts
Kerala’s Sacred Snake Festival isn’t about fear or superstition—it’s about reverence. Reverence for a world where spirits dwell among trees, in the slither of a snake or the silence of a grove. It’s a timeless message that true divinity often resides in how we treat the world around us. And maybe, just maybe, a little bit of magic lives there too.
If you’re a filmmaker, director, or producer looking for the next big location to shoot your dream project in 2025, let us stop you right there—India is calling. And trust me, it’s not just calling. It’s offering you everything you need—visually, logistically, and financially.
As someone who has worked with international film crews from Germany, Japan, the UK, and the Netherlands, I’ve seen why India continues to be the most preferred film shooting destination in 2025. From my experience at FILMING INDO, here’s why shooting in India this year could be the best decision you’ll make.
1. An Incredible Variety of Locations
India uniquely offers everything your project could need—all within its borders:
Snow‑capped peaks like Ladakh and Himachal
Historic palaces and golden deserts in Rajasthan
Lush backwaters of Kerala and wildlife jungles
Urban rhythms in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi
Pristine beaches of Goa and the Andamans
2. World-Class Crews & Equipment
Pushing limits is what we do. India has experienced DOPs, art directors, VFX teams, equipment rentals (Arri, RED, drones)… all at a fraction of global rates.
3. Best Time to Shoot — October to March
Mild weather, clear skies, and even light make this period ideal for any outdoor scene. Whether you’re filming a dramatic narrative, documentary, or wildlife special—this window delivers.
4. Local Film Fixer & Line Production Support
We handle everything from location scouting and permits, to customs clearance, crew coordination, and travel logistics—so you can stay focused on the creative.
Our bilingual team ensures a smooth, culturally aware on-ground experience in any part of India.
5. Rich, Untold Stories
India is a living archive—filled with vibrant cultures, spiritual journeys, wildlife, and communities that scream ‘story.’ Filming here isn’t just about visuals—it’s about capturing souls.
6. Film-Friendly Policies & Support
Many states now fast-track film permits, drone approvals, and even give subsidies to international shoots. We’ve successfully managed permissions for sensitive zones, national parks, and archival locations.
7. Recent Happy Collaborations
German TV crew in filming in Mumbai about the Leopards
Wildlife doc teams in Madhya Pradesh, Kerala
Dutch Ayurveda shoot in Kerala and Tamil Nadu
Spanish TV in Mumbai slums
Japanese culture and heritage projects across Rajasthan
Jammu and Kashmir, with its ethereal beauty, snow-capped mountains, spiritual monasteries, and vibrant cultural heritage, has long captivated filmmakers from across the globe. Whether it’s the shimmering waters of Dal Lake in Srinagar, the snowy slopes of Gulmarg, or the rugged landscapes of Leh, this region offers unmatched diversity in cinematic locations. However, filming in such sensitive and logistically challenging areas requires much more than just creative vision—it demands local expertise and trusted ground support. This is where FILMING INDO becomes your reliable Fixer in Jammu and Kashmir, offering end-to-end production support to bring your cinematic dream to life.
Jammu and Kashmir has a close association with national and International movies. Indian government efforts are being made to make Jammu and Kashmir an internationally reputed place of film shooting. The Government of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has approved the implementation of Film Policy 2021. A Jammu & Kashmir Film Development Council and a Film Division will be formed under the Film Policy 2021.
Fixer in Srinagar: Shooting in the Heart of the Valley
Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir, is a visual masterpiece. With Dal Lake as its centerpiece and the Zabarwan mountain range as its backdrop, it’s a city that exudes charm and tranquility. Filmmakers seeking to shoot here often find themselves enchanted by the Mughal gardens, houseboats, and bustling old markets that add texture and emotion to any narrative. However, the political sensitivities and administrative clearances needed in this region make it essential to work with a professional fixer in Srinagar. From securing filming permits and coordinating with local authorities to managing transportation, crew, and equipment, FILMING INDO ensures that your shoot remains smooth, legal, and efficient. The governem
Film Shoot in Gulmarg: Capturing Winter Magic with Local Expertise
If your script calls for a snowy landscape, alpine meadows, or thrilling winter sports scenes, Gulmarg is an unbeatable location. Known for being one of the top ski destinations in Asia, Gulmarg has served as the backdrop for numerous Bollywood and international films. The location provides surreal visuals—from snow-covered forests and meadows to the iconic Gondola ride offering panoramic views of the Himalayas. Shooting here, however, is not without its challenges. Weather conditions, altitude, and transport of equipment can complicate production. That’s why hiring a dedicated fixer in Gulmarg through FILMING INDO becomes critical. We handle ground coordination, ensure cold-weather gear is arranged, and liaise with local stakeholders for permissions and safety protocols.
Film Production in Leh: Rugged Beauty Meets Spiritual Depth
Leh, in the union territory of Ladakh, stands in stark contrast to the rest of Kashmir. Its barren hills, deep blue lakes, and ancient monasteries offer a dramatic visual palette for films focusing on isolation, spirituality, and human endurance. Locations like Pangong Lake, Thiksey Monastery, and Khardung La Pass have featured in numerous iconic films, thanks to their arresting visuals and remote charm. Shooting in Leh, however, comes with its own set of challenges—altitude sickness, harsh terrain, and limited access to production resources. That’s where our fixer in Leh steps in, planning every detail from acclimatization schedules to securing drone permissions and coordinating with local monks and villagers for authentic storytelling.
Why Work with a Fixer in Jammu and Kashmir?
Jammu and Kashmir is a land of awe-inspiring visuals but filming here requires far more than a camera and crew. From navigating high-security zones and unpredictable weather to understanding religious sensitivities and coordinating with multiple administrative bodies, it takes experience and strong local connections to execute a successful shoot. FILMING INDO, with its deep regional expertise, becomes your all-in-one fixer in Jammu and Kashmir—managing everything from paperwork and logistics to translation and cultural liaison.
Make Your Next Shoot in Jammu & Kashmir Seamless with FILMING INDO
From Srinagar’s timeless beauty to Gulmarg’s snowy enchantment and Leh’s spiritual vastness, Jammu and Kashmir is a cinematic goldmine waiting to be explored. With FILMING INDO as your fixer and line production partner, you get more than just support—you get a local ally who understands the terrain, culture, and official process like no one else.
