Mr Subrata, a teacher who hails from a small countryside village in Bankura district due to slow internet speed, he sets up his workspace on a tall tree so that he could take online classes without network interruption. He made a small platform like shelter using some bamboo, iron nails and threads spreading carpet on it. Installed his phone and put some books beside. He shared that he don not get proper mobile network everywhere in our village. The Mobile tower is quite far from the village. Thus, for better connectivity and smooth flow of internet data, Mr Subrata sets up his workspace on the tall tree where his mobile receives fair signal.

 

Mr Subrata climbs the tree at 9:30 am for the first class after heavy breakfast and brings some water and snacks along with him on the tree. His classes end at 6 pm in the evening. All day long, Mr Subrata sits on the tree. Teachers like Mr Subrata may be considered as an icon and inspiration for others; however this has also led to the question of India’s internet infrastructure. It may be a distant dream for all of us to get shifted to a complete reliance on the online platform for delivery of classes & meetings.

While writing this blog today, I recall a very popular and inspiring dialogue from one my favorite movie “Manjhi: The Mountain Man” where Dashrath Manjhi says “Never depend upon God. There is something very similar situation happened today while whole India is quarantined in their home since March 20, 2020 due to lockdown. Meanwhile nation fights with Covid-19 and the lockdown prevails across India, a couple who hails from the state of Maharashtra dug a well of 25-foot outside their house.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The story and act sounds unbelievable for instance, but Mr Gajanan Pakmod and his wife Mrs Pushpa Pakmod have dug a 25-feet deep well in a 21 days lockdown set another record and true spirit of courage. Mr Gajanan who is a resident of Karkheda village in Washim district had been digging from last 3 weeks. Fortunately on the 21st day of the excavation, the couple found water under the ground.

 

The family had no experience of digging well except the Mr Gajanan. Along with him, his wife and 2 children encouraged and helped during the digging. Inspite of several instructions from police officials to remain inside house, the couple went on to solve their problems of water. The family was always dependent on government water supply which is mostly closed. Therefore the family decided to dig a well as an alternative and permanent solution.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

What could be the best way to utilize lockdown phase in best productive way, the couple thought and went on beside sitting and watching the tap for water. The wife of Mr Gajanan supports consistently in the endeavors and prayed each day for the success. The family digs a 25 feet well without using any kind of professional or technical equipment beside just few hand tools.

 

On the uncommon behavior and action of family, the neighbors started criticizing but who could stop Mr Gajanan whose has found the solution for his problem and paving the way for it. Now his water problem is solved for forever.

Shafiq Syed, who played the role of Krishna within the movie now earns his living as an auto rickshaw driver in Bangalore.

 

• Gandhi

Gandhi is an Indo-UK film released in 1983. It is based on the life of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi also known as Bapu in India. Richard Attenborough directed the film which is a joint production between British and Indian production houses. This was shot in many places in India including Koliwar Bridge in Bihar.

 

 

 

• Iqbal

It is an Indo-Danish movie released in 2005. Nagesh Kukunoor and is a sports drama genre. Although, it was a Hindi film, it was entirely shot in and around Tenali in Guntur District of Andhra Pradesh. This film is based on the life of a deaf and dumb boy who wants to be a part of the Indian national cricket team.

 

 

 

• Jaya Ganga

It is a hindi drama movie released in 1998. It is again an Indo-French movie directed by Vijay Singh based on his first novel. Kambala is an annual buffalo race held in the south Indian state of Karnataka. On the occasion, number of Buffaloes are decorated and prepared for fast running on the Muddy track. Karnataka has very unique historical culture and tradition which is why the state is also best location for filming in India, has several interesting stories for Video documentary shooting.

 

Kambala usually starts in November and lasts until March. As per the local tradition, the race is sponsored by local Tuluva zamindars and coastal districts of South Karnataka and Udupi and Kasaragod in Kerala, collectively known as Tulu Nadu. Kambala is organized through Kambala Committees (Kambala Association).

 

There are two parallel racing tracks in Kambala. Mud is spread by spreading water across the track. These tracks are 120 to 160 meters long and are 8 to 12 meters wide. The two buffaloes are tied and hauled by players (jockeys). The first to reach the finish line with a buffalo is the winner. Racers also beat the buffaloes with sticks or rope to run them.

In past times, the winners of the race used to receive coconuts, but they are now honored by gold medals & trophies and several other valuables items. The racing event lasts for several days and the grand finale is organised at the regional level. How and Why Buffalo Race Started

It is believed that the buffalo racing game begin about 800 years ago. In past, the game was played by usually among farming community of Karnataka State. The festival is said to be dedicated to Lord Manjunath, who is called an incarnation of Lord Shiva. This game is said to please God for a good harvest of that season. There is also another belief, some thinks that this game originated from royal family.

 

The present day Kambala race started in 1969-70 from Bajagoli. It was named Luv-Kush Kambala. More than 5 thousand people are directly involved in organizing Kambala race. Animal Activists who are working for the conservation of animals had opened a protest and filed a case against Kambala game a few years ago. The animal activists accused the Jockeys of forcing buffaloes to run fast. After this incident the traditional 600 years old game was banned. Few other Police were also injured in this fight. Realizing the seriousness of the case, the Punjab Police has arrested the accused Nihang Sikhs. The accused have been booked for attempt to murder under Section 307 of the IPC.
